Hyperbook Studios are a Polish developer whose first virtual reality (VR) videogame effort was Greenlit on Steam last year, before that particular service was discontinued. The team is now working on two different VR titles, REGENESIS Arcade and Hyper Arena VR.
Nina Salomons of VRFocus managed to speak to Wojciech Urbanowicz who works in Marketing and Game Production for Hyperbook Studio and got him to talk a little about the studios current projects and ambitions for the future.
REGENESIS Arcade is an action shooter title which is set in a bleak future where the player takes the role of the last human, who has been awoken from extended hibernation. Earth is inhabited by competing factions of robots, many of which would like nothing more than to see you dead.
As such, the player has to master a variety of weapons and play styles to take out the robots and aim for the best high score they can muster in a world where the enemies don’t slow down or stop coming.
Hyper Arena VR (or HAVR) appears to be a PvP title that is heavily inspired by the aesthetics of classic sci-fi movie TRON. The combatants fight with discs in a neon-lit landscape, defending with shields and adjusting their strategy to get around the opponent’s defences. The system incorporated Vive Trackers on the player’s feet and has been designed with location-based VR centres primarily in mind.
REGENESIS Arcade is currently in its Early Access phase on Steam, and is not currently in a final phase according to the developers. For Hyper Arena VR the development team say that the earliest it can be expected to released is Autumn 2018.
For Hyper Arena VR the team is hoping to set up a freemium model, something which is not supported by many VR storefronts at present. They say this is to encourage as many people as possible to try and enjoy the title.
