Many fans of SEGA’s line of Shining RPG videogames are eagerly awaiting the next entry in the franchise, which will be the first to head to the west in quite some time. It is an expanded remake of Shining Resonance, and to whet appetites even more, a virtual reality (VR) spin-off offers fans the chance to go on a VR date with one of the characters.
VR Figure from Shining: Kirika Towa Alma is due for release on the PlayStation VR, and will let players get closer to Shining Resonance character Kirika.
There are two planned modes for the title, the first is called ‘Figure Viewing Mode’ which lets players view Kirika from various angles as she poses within the rich green townscape of Marga, which acts as a backdrop.
The other mode is called Event Viewing Mode and it lets players enjoy date events with Kirika, which have been reproduced from the original videogame and remade in VR.
In Shining Resonance, the main protagonist is called Yuma, a timid young man who has lived a sheltered life, since he was identified as harboring the soul of the Shining Dragon within him. As the story of the main game progresses, Yuma learns how to interact with people and grow into his own person.
Kirika is a priestess who serves the Silver Dragon. She is very formal and polite, but only sees Yuma as the Silver Dragon and not as his own person, which causes something of a barrier between the two characters.
VR Figure from Shining: Kirika Towa Alma is due to launch on the Japanese PlayStation Store on 11th July, 2018, where it will be priced at 1,000 yen. There is currently no word on if it will get a western release.
Shining Resonance Refrain will be released for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Microsoft Windows and Xbox One on 10th July, 2018. VRFocus will bring you further news on new and upcoming VR titles as they become available.
