Squanch Games Release Trailer for Dr. Splorchy Presents: Space Heroes

Squanch Games are showing off how its upcoming title Dr. Splorchy Presents: Space Heroes is coming along by not only announcing the release date but also revealing a new trailer for the Google Daydream title that is the latest virtual reality (VR) title to come from the studio founded by Rick and Morty creator Justin Roiland.

The studio has quickly developed a reputation for producing VR titles that are off-the-wall and madcap in some way, and it seems that Dr. Splorchy Presents: Space Heroes is going to be no exception.

The title as been described as somewhere between action-adventure and shooter, with the typical wacky elements that the audience has come to expect from the studio that is working on Trover Saves the Universe.

The official description of the videogame from Squanch Games even fits into the eccentric theming, delivered in a suitably overblown fashion, and of course, written in all caps. As you can see here:

“YOU AND YOUR BROTHER ARE IMPORTANT SPACE HEROES. WITH THE HELP OF ME, DR. SPLORCHY, YOU’VE MADE YOUR WAY INTO THE HEART OF THE EVIL SPACE LORD SHIP WHERE YOU MUST DEACTIVATE HIS WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION.”

Short demos of the title have previously been available at events such as GDC, where those going hands-on were greeted with someone throwing lemons at you to get you to grasp the locomotion system, and subsequently having a defuse a bomb that turns out to be a supermarket. Yep, it’s made by Squanch Games, all right.

Attendees at the famous San Diego Comic Con will get the chance to try out the title, as a ‘pop-up playtest’ will be available outside the venue. Squanch Games employees will also be roving around carrying Lenovo Mirage Solo headsets to give attendees of the event a look at a special demo build of the game.

The trailer for Dr. Splorchy Presents: Space Heroes is available to view below, and the title s due for release on 23rd July, 2018. For further coverage of Dr. Splorchy Presents: Space Heroes and other upcoming VR titles, keep checking back with VRFocus.
