XR Think-Tank To Be Held at Byron Bay Film Festival

Though often overlooked, Australia is another area which is growing and developing its augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) sectors. In recognition of this continued growth, 2018 will be the third time that the Co_Lab_Create event will be held to bring together VR/AR professionals at the Byron Bay International Film Festival.

The Co_Lab_Create event will occur alongside the established program of cutting-edge film content that the Byron Bay Film Festival has become known for, bringing together professionals in the field of AR and VR for a series of talks, workshops and masterclasses.

Co_Lab_Create will be bringing together a number of representatives from leading and emerging businesses and brands across Australia and New Zealand who are involved in the AR and VR sector. Also present will be a selection of international developers and directors.

The event has grown over the past three years to become an important event in the calendar for AR and VR professionals in Australia, New Zealand and beyond. The event was founded by the technical director of the Byron Bay Film Festival Osvaldo Alfaro along with festival director J’Aimee Skippon-Volke, both of whom have extensive backgrounds in animation and visual effects.

Not only do they invite world leading VR storytellers to our shores to educate and enrich local producers, but by bringing together Australia’s leading practitioners for multiple day workshops under the banner of Co_Lab_Create, they facilitate workshops, foster relationships and drive real outcomes for the most important challenges the industry faces.” said Ben Richards, Director of Innovation at Cutting Edge.

Spaces for Co_Lab_Create are very limited, so those interested in attending are encouraged to fill in the submission for as soon as possible to secure a place. The event is due to be held on 13th-14th October, 2018. Further information and the registration form can be found on the Byron Bay Film Festival website.
