Have you ever wanted to step into a submarine and venture through the ocean firing torpedoes at enemy ships? Well, if the answer is yes than the virtual reality (VR) title IronWolf VR will be for you. In this submarine simulator title you enter one of the underwater vessels in single-player or co-op to complete missions and take control of the waters.
Designed to be an experience that requires layers to move around and interact with a number of different objects within the vessel, IronWolf VR is an immersive experience. Built from the ground up for VR, the team at Ionized Studios have worked to ensure that everything feels right even down to that sense of being underwater in a small, claustrophobic metal ship. All of the levers and wheels are physical devices within the title, which provide a great sense of haptic and 3D audio feedback to further immerse the players within the setting.
In order to survive out in the wild open ocean players will need to unleash torpedoes on enemy ships, try to avoid depth charges dropped by destroyers and even man an anti-aircraft gun in order to shoot down fighter planes and bombers that will try to put an end to your adventures. All of this takes place within a room-scale experience that does not require any locomotion systems as players can simply walk to reach every item they need to interact with.
For those with any accessibility needs the title does include a number of different features and options which can be picked to suit the player, ensuring that everyone is able to experience the fast paced action of IronWolf VR.
Now available on the Oculus Store for the Oculus Rift and Oculus Touch, IronWolf VR is priced at £14.99 (GBP). As mentioned the title is able to be played in single-player on in co-op using an online connection between to players. It released into Steam Early Access back in March, 2017 and is still available today for £16.99 (GBP).
