A number of print publications have been exploring how augmented reality (AR) can improve the experience for readers, with big publications like the New York Times and Sports Illustrated incorporating AR content into its issues. Now BizBash, a magazine aimed at event and meetings professionals has relaunched its print and digital editions, incorporating AR content.
The 2018 Holiday/Fall Venues Issue will includes features such as the 2018 Holiday Party Guide, along with gift guides, tips on managing guest behaviour and the advertised AR features.
The print issues will include easy and affordable AR solutions for events, event reports on the World Cup, and Food & Wine Classic in Aspen along with other events, a strategy session on the trends of Instagram-centric brands and a list of the Top 500 Most Influential Event Professionals in North America. This list includes leaders in all sectors of live experiences, including associations, festivals, conferences, trade shows, fund-raisers, DMCs, and more.
“Our new print issue brings to life a trend we have seen in the event industry over the past few years—people are craving offline, in-person, real life experiences. Merging AR and print magazines is the perfect use case,” said David Adler, BizBash C.E.O. and founder. “In an online world where distraction is turning the experience into a chaotic mess, the tranquility of the magazine experience could be the way to have more impact than ever.”
The AR experiences in the issue will be provided by well-known brands, including Spotify, Joann, the Dodo, PopSugar, FX, HBO, Google, and Grey Goose.
The print version of the BizBash magazine will be distributed to 20,000 planners, and digital copies will go to many more planning and event professionals who work in the major event markets of New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Miami/South Florida and Toronto.
