Like many virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) focused companies, UK-based Make Real is keen on exploring every avenue relating to these immersive industries. Originally created by the founders of its parent company Makemedia, Make Real began in the enterprise sector before branching out into the consumer realm.
Featuring a team of veterans with expertise in military simulation, triple-A gaming and web development backgrounds, Make Real has completed projects for a number of customers including EDF Energy, McDonald’s, Procat, and construction firm BLSC.
While it’s these sort of commissions that keep Make Real in business and profitable, in terms of its consumer appearance the studio is better known for a number of VR titles on HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR. Most well known will likely be Radial-G: Racing Revolved, created by sister company Tammeka Games – they share a lot of staff – or most recently multiplayer party experience Loco Dojo.
A lot of this work has to do with VR but Make Real has experimented with AR technology as well, with plenty of bigger firms beginning to see the multiple uses cases for AR in their work space. Make Real’s latest was called HPC Hololens AR Explorer for EDF Energy, with the global powerhouse challenging the studio to make an engaging learning experience.
Earlier this year Make Real revealed it had secured significant investment, with a funding round led by M&A Advisory securing an undisclosed figure to help Make Real hire new talent and further develop immersive e-learning products.
