Star Wars VR Series Vader Immortal Coming To Oculus Quest

Star Wars as a franchise has eagerly embraced immersive technology, from THE VOID location-based virtual reality (VR) experiences, to the Lenovo Mirage Solo augmented reality adventure Star Wars: Jedi Challenges. This is set to continue as a new Star Wars VR 360-degree video series is set to premiere on the newly announced Oculus Quest headset.

The new series has been named as Star Wars: Vader Immortal and is based entirely around iconic villain Darth Vader. Viewers will be able to step into the dark world of Darth Vader, as the 3-part series explores the gap between Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: A New Hope.

As Writer and Executive producer David S. Foyer explained to the crowd at Oculus Connect 5: “We designed it to only be experienced in virtual reality.”

Viewers will enter into the depths of Darth Vader’s castle, a foreboding location on the fiery lava world of Mustafa, and a place that was initially glimpsed in Star Wars: Rogue One. Oculus Quest users will be able to take an active role in the unfolding of this untold story.

Star Wars: Vader Immortal is set to be a launch title for the Oculus Quest, the latest addition to the Oculus VR headset family. The Oculus Quest was previously known as the ‘Santa Cruz’ standalone and features full inside-out tracking along with six degrees-of-freedom enabled by its compatibility with the Oculus Touch tracked motion controller.

The Oculus Quest is due to launch in Spring 2019, with fifty apps and videogames set to be launch titles, including Robo Recall, Moss and The Climb, along with this new Star Wars 360-degree adventure.
