Ubisoft have announced that a new closed beta is taking place next week for their virtual reality (VR) multiplayer shooter title Space Junkies. The title, which was first announced back at E3 2017, is a “visceral, jetpack-fueled VR arcade shooter” in which players do battle against each other in teams to see who is the best around. Offering a zero-gravity, competitive shooter experience those looking to get hands on with be able to do just that thanks to the new closed beta.
Taking place between Wednesday, September 26th and Monday, October 1st 2018, players who make it into the closed beta will be able to enjoy plenty of exciting content. This includes the brand new King Mode in which two teams of two need to seize and keep the crown for as long as possible. Should one team have the crown then the other team will need to hunt them down without mercy and make sure they take it back by any means possible. There will be no place to hide though as the player with the crown will also be marked within the arena.
Two new maps will be joining the closed beta as well including Canyon Chase and Dark Dice. Along with these players can look forward to new equipment including the Medkit, will also allow you to quickly regain health between or during fights. Though the cool down on it is significant it is a key item that could help you turn the tide of a fight. Just make sure to use it at the right moment. Additionally, two new characters join the fun as well going by the names of Templar and Cray-Cray.
Because the new King Mode requires players take advantage of tactical aspects of the gameplay along with coordinating and communicating together, the team have added a new Team-up Feature. This means players can now invite a friend and work together in the competitive arena to have a better chance of victory. Watch out though as should you enter the battle in this way you’ll be up against other pre-matched teams. To make this even better, your friend lists from Oculus, Uplay and Steam will all be merged into a single list in-game for convenience.
