As reported by Variety, Tyffon launched out of the Disney Accelerator program back in 2014 having initially built mobile applications like “Show Your Disney Side.” The company is now focusing on location-based experiences that leverage VR and mixed reality (MR) attractions that offer players with immersive and exciting experiences. This includes the MR horror experience Corridor, and Fluctus, an MR fantasy ride on a floating ship.

Both of these titles have been available in what the company calls Tyffonium, which opens up last year in Tokyo, allowing attendees a chance to experience the titles for themselves. With the new round of funding, the company is planning to open a second Tokyo location in November of this year and open their first location in the United States in Los Angeles in the coming months as well.

“We are gratified by our new investment and look forward to expanding our innovative and impactful Tyffonium immersive experiences to audiences in the U.S.,” said Tyffon CEO Ken Fukazawa in a statement. “Our new investors include SEGA SAMMY Holdings, a world-renowned innovator in technology and entertainment.”

Tyffon are of course not the only location-based company looking to bring VR and MR experiences to the market as The Void, a fellow Disney Accelerator alum who has opened 11 locations so far and is planning to open many more in the near future. The VOID recently announced that it is working with ILMxLAB to produce new hyper-reality experiences based on popular Disney Animation Studios and Marvel Studios IP’s in the future.

As Tyffon continue to expand to new locations and develop more experiences for their customers, VRFocus will be sure to bring you all the latest in the future. You can see the trailer for the companies MR title, Corridor below.
