With Pokémon Go still being one of the most popular augmented reality (AR) titles currently available, developers Niantic Labs are keen to keep the content fresh for the players. In anticipation of the release of the Sinnoh region Pokémon, a number of changes are being introduced which will change the balance of the game.
The changes are based on feedback received from the player base and have been designed to improve the experience for all players.
Changes are being made to Pokémon migration and behaviour, which will affect the Pokémon that appear to players/ These changes include alterations to weather, which when the patch is applied will have a reduced affect on the rate that Pokémon appear. A greater variety of Pokémon species will appear and certain areas, including parks and nature reserves will now contain a more varied array of Pokémon species and types.
The battle mechanics are also being tweaked. CP values are being adjusted and HP values are seeing a change that is aimed at closing the gap between High HP Pokémon and low HP Pokémon. The Defence and Stamina values are also being rebalanced to let high defence Pokémon outlast opponents. In addition, Defence values have been retroactively reduced, which is designed to narrow the gap between Pokémon focussed on Defence and other types of Pokémon.
Niantic Labs are also planning to introduce further tweaks to help players, changes that Niantic says will ‘Help Trainers and their Pokémon reach their full potential.’
The Generation Four Pokémon were first introduced in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, and include the starter trio from those titles, Chimchar, Turtwig and Piplup, among others which are regarded fondly by the Pokémon fanbase. It has not yet been confirmed when the Sinnoh Pokémon will be introduced into Pokémon Go.
