Want to see DiRT Rally 2.0 in VR? Only if There’s Demand States Codemasters

There’s not that many awesome racing simulators for virtual reality (VR) headsets, with Gran Turismo Sport offering a watered down version of the main experience for PlayStation VR owners, or there’s Project CARS 2 for PC headsets. One of the best racing titles however is Codemasters 2016 release of DiRT Rally which received a full five stars in VRFocus’ review. The developer recently announced a launch date for DiRT Rally 2.0 for PC and console players but there’s no VR support. It does seem however that Codemasters could be swayed.

DiRT Rally 2.0

Codemasters held its first live stream for the new videogame yesterday, taking questions from viewers. And what’s the very first question they answer, well of course it’s about VR support. While its not been implemented yet, the studio is open to the prospect if there’s enough demand from gamers.

Responding to the query, Chief Games Designer Ross Gowing said: “We won’t be having VR in the game for launch, but it is something that we’re listening to everybody’s comments, and all the things the community has to say about it and we are all ears. And if there’s enormous demand for it then yeah we can do it. It’s no small undertaking but if it’s what people want then we’ll try and get it done.”

So there you go. If you want DiRT Rally 2.0 in VR then let Codemasters know, hit them up on the usual social channels, add comments below this article or head on over to Reddit where a thread on r/Oculus is dedicated to it. By the comments on YouTube and Reddit there’s no shortage of support, the more the merrier.

DiRT Rally 2.0

From the footage Codemasters has already released DiRT Rally 2.0 is shaping up to be a very good looking title, and sitting inside the cars whilst in VR would only make that even more immersive and exhilarating. If the studio does plan on going ahead with the support, VRFocus will let you know.
