With GDC fast-approaching next month we are expecting to learn a lot more about the Oculus Quest standalone VR headset. The Monday before GDC kicks off Oculus is hosting a showcase in which they’ll be showing new Quest demos for unannounced games and we’re still waiting on a full list of all 50 launch titles that were promised back at OC5 last year.
Back when the Oculus Go came out there were a slew of free titles on the store for people to enjoy. When the Rift launched it came bundled with games like Lucky’s Tale, EVE: Valkyrie, and Farlands. The Vive had stuff like The Lab and Job Simulator that used to come with all headsets.
When you bought a PS4 there were free-to-play games ready to go and with the rise of games like Fortnite, Paladins, Apex Legends, and more — there has never been more opportunity for great gaming without dropping extra money on actual software. So the question arises: what will come bundled with the Oculus Quest headset?
Will Oculus port Lucky’s Tale over and offer that for free? Will Rec Room or Beat Saber come pre-installed on every device? There are lots of options out there with so many launch titles and games we don’t even know about yet. What do you think?
