Trover Saves The Universe no Longer PlayStation VR Exclusive, PC Version Confirmed

In the midst of all the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2019 chaos Squanch Games has chosen today to announce that its upcoming virtual reality (VR) title Trover Saves the Universe will no longer be a PlayStation VR exclusive, with a version planned for PC.

Trover Saves the Universe

Trover Saves the Universe is a single-player adventure that will now support Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, available via Steam as well as the new Epic Games Store.

Coming from the minds that brought you Accounting and Accounting+, Squanch Games and the co-creator of Rick and Morty have created another bizarre comedy adventure which isn’t even really explained in the synopsis: “Your dogs have been dognapped by a beaked lunatic named Glorkon who stuffed them into his eye holes and is using their life essence to destroy the universe. You’re partnered with Trover, a little purple eye-hole monster who isn’t a huge fan of working or being put in the position of having to save the universe. He’s also not that big a fan of you quite frankly, and neither am I.”

Mixing in a touch of combat, some platforming and the odd puzzle or two, in Trover Saves the Universe you get to travel through the cosmos visiting all sorts of weird and wonderful planets with your mate Trover. On your travels, you can upgrade Trover to try and help you defeat Glorkon.

Trover Saves the Universe

Originally announcing Trover Saves the Universe during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in June last year, VRFocus previewed the experience on PlayStation VR, finding that: “From this early look at Trover Saves the Universe it seems as though Squanch Games are sticking with what they know. It’s gross, over the top, funny, bizarre and just the right sort of adventure for a more mature VR audience. So long as there’s enough gameplay variety to compliment the comedy then there’s no reason this can’t be a worthy successor to Accounting.”

It’s great to hear that Trover Saves the Universe will be coming to more platforms, all we need now is a release date. When that’s revealed VRFocus will let you know as soon as possible.
