Community Download is a weekly discussion-focused articles series published (usually) every Monday in which we pose a single, core question to you all, our readers, in the spirit of fostering discussion and debate. For today, we want to know what you want out of a Half-Life VR game following some recent bits of code suggesting one is for sure on the way.
Few video game franchises have as much ravenous support surrounding them as Valve’s Half-Life series, do in large part to the cliffhanger ending at the end of Half-Life 2: Episode 2, but also because of how groundbreaking and influential they’ve been for legions of PC gamers and developers.
Last year we broke the news that Valve is working on a Half-Life VR game and its being designed as a prequel of some kind to Half-Life 3. We don’t know anything else other than that. And today, we reported on a recent find of some mysterious code in the most recent update for The Lab which hints that it could be coming soon. In fact, we know they’re releasing a “flagship” VR game sometime this year still.
That brings us to the topic at hand: What do you want from a Half-Life VR game? Assuming you were presented with a blank slate and Valve offered you the chance to design the game to be exactly what you wanted, what would it be? How would it play? Where would it take place on the timeline of the series?
Let us know what you want from Half-Life VR down in the comments below!
