Just over a year ago, Japanese developer ForgeVision released Tale of the Fragmented Star: Single Fragment Version for headsets including Oculus Rift and HTC Vive – PlayStation VR version followed in 2019. This was a prologue of sorts, introducing players to this fantasy puzzle universe. Publisher Mediascape recently announced that the main story-driven experience Tale of the Fragmented Star will be coming in 2020.
Tale of the Fragmented Star will keep to the same formula as the previous version but it will feature brand new puzzles. To mix things up ForgeVision will be altering the tempo for players whilst adding new features such as direction changes and action skips, reports Gematsu.
The studio hasn’t released any screenshots of the new title just yet but it will support PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and Windows Mixed Reality headsets when its release Spring 2020. In the meantime, the studio will be heading to Digige Expo 2019 to promote Tale of the Fragmented Star on 17th November, with a bunch of branded merch available.
You won’t need to have played Tale of the Fragmented Star: Single Fragment Version as the 2020 version is standalone. Although the developer does mention that it helps with the story and connecting to the character.
Described as a ‘communication puzzle game’ Tale of the Fragmented Star: Single Fragment Version solely operates via head interaction so the controllers aren’t needed for the actual gameplay. The story goes that: “A lone girl stands abandoned on a broken star. With the star deprived of its power, she can neither use it to escape nor inform others of her plight. However, there exists a point on this star that intersects with another world.” You just so happen to be standing on this point, so together you must both restore the star’s power. ForgeVision has revealed that 10,000 copies of the title have been solved.
VRFocus will continue its coverage of Tale of the Fragmented Star, reporting back when further updates are available.
