Schell Games released its latest virtual reality (VR) title Until You Fall back in August via Steam Early Access – followed by Oculus Store in October – and since then rolled out a couple of patches. Today, the studio has revealed its preparing to launch its most significant update to date, adding a wealth of content for players.
Currently, players can only access the Forests of Rokar and the Gateway to the City. The update will allow them to complete the Shattered Woods campaign, entering the Industrial Outskirts and experiencing the final encounter with the Aether Horror.
Whilst in Rokar players will also encounter two new enemies, the Empowered Captain and Empowered Spellweaver to test their sword fighting skills. Should they manage to vanquish all of these enemies then they’ll be rewarded with the Twin Katars, unique punching daggers that can be paired together or mixed with other weapons.
In addition to the core features Schell Games notes the update will also include: “dodging improvements, stabbing improvements, dash damage balance updates, as well as seated mode range adjustments to make the game more comfortable to play. Quality of life improvements will also be added, including better Augment rewards when defeating bosses.”
If you’ve not tried Until You Fall yet, the title is a melee-based combat experience mixing sword and magic elements. Offering randomized run-throughs, you’re given no easy ride as death means returning to the very start for another attempt. To help along the way you’ll collect currency to then customise your weapons with unique traits and augments or forge new ones.
VRFocus previewed Until You Fall at launch, noting: “The battles were fun and the gameplay certainly seems to hark back to the 80s and 90s, where you’re given no recourse; you just have to be good, very good at holding your own.”
Schell Games will release the update on 14th November as a free patch. The team will also be demoing at DreamHack ATL conference in Atlanta, GA later this month. Until You Fall currently supports HTC Vive/Vive Pro, Valve Index, and Oculus Rift/Rift S headsets. VRFocus will continue its coverage of the videogame and developer, reporting back with further announcements.
