A couple of months back Lenovo looked to relaunch its beleaguered augmented reality (AR) headset system from 2017, the Lenovo Mirage AR with new content in the form of MARVEL Dimension of Heroes. That doesn’t look to have happened but for Black Friday you can save a further $50 USD to pick up an AR novelty bargain.
When the Lenovo Mirage AR originally arrived in 2017 along with Star Wars: Jedi Challenges it sold for $250. Prices didn’t stay that high and if you can find one, tend to retail well under $100. When Marvel Dimension of Heroes came along the price returned to $250, with new controllers which are compatible with both videogames.
Head over to Lenovo.com and you’ll find the full Marvel Dimension of Heroes kit retailing for $149 – full $100 off the original price after only two months. Today, you’re in greater luck if you’re after one of these mobile phone-based headsets, as Archiact VR has a further $50 thanks to a special code. Head on over to the developers Twitter account where it’ll be posting the code.
Developed by Archiact VR, Marvel Dimension of Heroes allows players to step into the shoes of six Marvel superheroes – Doctor Strange, Captain America, Thor, Black Panther, Captain Marvel and Star-Lord. In the main Story Mode players have to protect the planet from the Dread Dormammu, Lord of the Dark Dimension, as the being launches a surprise attack on Earth with his alliance of Super-Villains, including Loki, Ronan the Accuser, Ultron Prime and the Winter Soldier. Using each superheroes special abilities, players will be able to punch, slice and blast their way through hordes of AR enemies.
Once the Story Mode has been completed there’s always Survival Mode to fend off waves of enemies or Co-Op Mode, battling evil forces side-by-side with a friend in the same room, competing against each other’s high scores.
Much in the same way the Gear VR worked, Lenovo Mirage AR needs a compatible smartphone to operate, sitting in a special cradle for the phone’s screen to then be reflected, thus making the AR imagery.
The following phones have been tested for compatibility: iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, iPhone X, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6. Samsung Galaxy S9, S8, Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, Samsung Galaxy S7, Google Pixel XL, Google Pixel, Moto Z2 Force, Moto Z, LG G6. Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, Nova 2S, Xiaomi MIX2, Sony Xperia XZ1.
VRFocus will continue covering the Lenovo Mirage AR, reporting back with any further updates.
