Resolution Games has quite the virtual reality (VR) catalogue under its belt, such as Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs and Acron: Attack of the Squirrels. Today, the company has announced that to help steer its next-generation of gaming experiences videogame veteran Mike Booth will be joining the studios’ board of directors.
While you may not have heard of Booth you’ll have likely played one of his titles. His first was Nox created back when he was in college. He went onto found Turtle Rock Studios, the team behind Left 4 Dead and Counter-Strike: Condition Zero. His career has also seen him work on the original Counter-Strike, Counter-Strike (Xbox), Counter-Strike: Source, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Team Fortress 2, Command & Conquer: Generals and Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2.
He then moved into VR back in 2016 joining Facebook as creative director exploring social VR, and how people can connect and share their experiences.
“What drew me to Resolution Games is the team’s passion and dedication to creating innovative and immersive gameplay in what’s proving to be an incredibly powerful, yet still somewhat challenging technology,” said Booth in a statement. “I’ve seen Tommy [Palm, CEO of Resolution Games] and his team create diverse, high-quality content that pushes the boundaries of what is possible while bringing new people into gaming, which is a very hard thing to do. I’m looking forward to working with this talented group and navigating this field together, even moving beyond the studio’s usual genres to really push the boundaries of what can be done in games.”
“I’ve been playing games that Mike created for decades, and we’re so excited to add this legend not only to our board but also as a hands-on creative advisor to our teams as we bring our games to market,” said Tommy Palm, CEO of Resolution Games. “At Resolution Games, we know that in order to make the best games, you need the best and most creative minds. Having Mike join our team and share in our vision as we venture into a more hardcore games space will ensure we are creating the best possible experiences.”
Booth is said to be taking a hands-on approach in his new role, helping across several titles still to be announced. He’ll also help with the newly revealed Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale. As Resolution Games reveals further development details, VRFocus will let you know.
