Bristol VR Lab Goes Virtual in AltspaceVR

Bristol VR Lab

Opposable VR’s Bristol VR Lab has become a major networking hub in the UK city for immersive content creators but like many other social locations has had to adapt to the current climate. So this week Bristol VR Lab 2.0 has been announced, a virtual space set inside AltspaceVR.

Bristol VR Lab

An evolution of the physical original, Bristol VR Lab 2.0 is still designed around the principles of a coworking space for companies and individuals in XR, allowing professionals, students and teachers to connect.

Funded by Innovate UK, the space was created with support from the West of England Combined Authority, University of the West of England, University of Bristol, Rocketmakers, and Bath Spa University. Visitors will find a faithful recreation of the Bristol VR Lab, landmarks from the city itself, an amphitheatre where talks can be held complete with videos and slideshows as well as private meeting rooms.

As the lab is also focused on education, a classroom will also be available for teachers, students and lecturers who wish to give smaller talks rather than using the amphitheatre.
