Nintendo Release New Details for Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit

Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit

If you’re looking for an interesting toy this festive season and already own a Nintendo Switch then Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is set to offer a unique experience. Ahead of the launch later this month Nintendo has released two new videos revealing additional details about the mixed reality (MR) toy.

Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit

A collaborative effort between Nintendo and Velan Studios, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is all about putting players inside an actual kart which they can drive around their home all from the comfort of their sofa. The videos reveal that classic features like drifting and mushroom boosts are still included. In fact, Mario Kart 8 players should feel right at home with everything.

Bananas, Red Shells, Lightning, Chomp, Blooper, Blue Shell and Bullet Bill will all be available during multiplayer and single-player races. You’ll be able to select between 50cc, 100cc, 150cc and 200cc classes which will change the speed of the physical kart, whilst a Mirror Mode reverses home scenery.

There will be eight Grand Prix cups, each featuring three tracks for a total of 24 races. These change the aesthetics rather than the track because the track design is completely up to you. Nintendo recommends a 12′ x 10′ space to drive around.

Whilst racing you can collect coins to unlock rewards such as new karts and outfits which can then be selected via the slot machine system. As for further customisation options, you’ll be able to create custom race modes to select the various classes, music, aesthetics and more.

“Get your engines revved up for Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, which launches just in time for the holidays,” said Nick Chavez, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing in a statement. “Whether you’ve always dreamed of turning your living room into Rainbow Road or want to prove once and for all that you’re the fastest racer among your friends and family, we hope this new Mario Kart experience brings smiles to people of all ages.”

Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is set to launch on 16th October 2020 in Mario or Luigi sets for $99.99 USD. Included in the kit are one kart, 4 gates, 2 arrow markers and a USB charging cable. The software itself will be free to download from the Nintendo eShop. For further updates, keep reading VRFocus.
