There are several multiplatform virtual reality (VR) titles such as Beat Saber beloved by all players, with slow-mo shooter Superhot VR another. Today, the Superhot Team has announced its set to launch a bunch of improvements to make use of the Oculus Quest 2’s new hardware capabilities.
The quality of life updates will provide players with a sharper, smoother gameplay experience, providing more detailed textures whilst utilising the device’s ‘almost’ 4K resolution. Superhot VR has also been optimised for the 90Hz refresh rate when it becomes available. Players will also be able to make use of cloud save support.
“Oculus Quest 2 has allowed us to bring a higher level of fidelity and playability that we can’t wait for everyone to get their hands on. Hopefully, players get to experience the Quest 2’s experimental 90Hz mode soon, since it really makes Superhot VR feel even more amazing. Our team is also super excited to continue exploring VR after the recent launch of SUPERHOT: MIND CONTROL DELETE,” said Mark Schramm, Lead VR Developer at SUPERHOT in a statement (MIND CONTROL DELETE isn’t VR compatible).
As it’s on the same platform, if you already own Superhot VR for Oculus Quest and upgrade to Oculus Quest 2 you’ll be able to download it for free with all those enhancements. The update will be available from 13th October with Superhot VR retailing for €24.99/$24.99/£18.99 on the Oculus Store.
As reported earlier this year, Superhot VR has done exceptionally well with the team announcing that over 2 million copies of the videogame have been sold across all platforms.
Key to its success is the difficult yet rewarding gameplay style. Superhot VR is a first-person shooter that takes place almost entirely in slow-motion. Stay still and time slows, only when you move does everything start to speed up. The challenge is to take down all the enemies using whatever weapon comes to hand, whilst dodging their bullets as if you were in a Matrix scene.
