Return to Myst in December With Oculus Quest

Myst - KeyArt

Cyan’s Myst just seems to be one of those videogames that just keeps on giving. Originally released way back in ’93, this puzzle title has been brought back numerous times and inspired countless more projects. So its fitting that it should get a virtual reality (VR) version, with an Oculus Quest launch date now confirmed for next month.

Myst

Like a lot of the titles coming to the standalone headset this winter, Myst appeared out the blue during Facebook Connect. The developer said that this iteration of Myst has been reimagined specifically for VR, so just like the recently released Blair Witch: Oculus Quest Edition there are going to be new interactive elements suiting the technology.

Taking some of you back to that famously mysterious island whilst for others it’ll be the first time, this new version of Myst will feature new art, sound and updated accessibility options to make it comfortable to all. If you do happen to be a Myst veteran then the puzzle randomization option should come in use to mix things up.

Myst still retains its original narrative, where you’re transported to the island by a special book, and that there are four other worlds to explore, known as Ages.

Myst

The title joins an ever-growing lineup of videogames coming to Oculus Quest before the end of the year. In addition to Myst, today has seen December release dates confirmed for Pistol Whip 2089 and Warhammer 40,000: Battle Sister. Plus you also have Prison Boss VR and ALTDEUS: Beyond Chronos arriving shortly.

Myst has a 10th December launch date for Oculus Quest. As an added little bonus, every purchase of the video game will include an exclusive Myst-themed Oculus home environment. For further updates from Cyan including its Kickstarter funded Firmament, keep reading VRFocus.
