Japanese virtual reality (VR) studio MyDearest Inc. revealed its next project, DYSCHRONIA: Chronos Alternate, last year, continuing the teams’ love of immersive visual novels. A multiplatform launch was initially slated for this spring but today the studio has confirmed that’s now being pushed back, with the Meta Quest 2 version arriving first.
In conjunction with development partner Izanagi Games, MyDearest Inc. is now working towards a summer launch of DYSCHRONIA: Chronos Alternate‘s first episode, with the next two instalments hopefully arriving before the end of 2022 – although that could change. The only other platform with confirmed support is Nintendo Switch, with its non-VR edition set to arrive by year-end.
Here’s the current launch timeline for DYSCHRONIA: Chronos Alternate:
- Meta Quest 2
- Episode 1 – Summer 2022
- Episode 2 – Fall 2022 and beyond
- Episode 3 – Winter 2022 and beyond
- Nintendo Switch
- Complete Package (All 3 Episodes) – Winter 2022 and beyond
Explaining the delay in a statement, MyDearest Inc. CEO & Executive Producer Kento Kishigami said: “I’m deeply sorry to disappoint everyone who was excited about the release being just around the corner. However, with the extra development time, we firmly believe we will be able to deliver a graphical and gameplay experience that far exceeds our previous releases.
“We may be entering the most critical phase of the whole process, but we’ve bolstered our development team with the best of the best, and they are passionately working, day in, day out on DYSCHRONIA: CA—and are in all in a constant state of excitement at seeing just how much the game continues to evolve.”
While you will have to be patient for the next project from the studio behind ALTDEUS: Beyond Chronos, the team has revealed its latest progress. Several before and after screenshots have been released showcasing the evolving visual fidelity, which is looking good it seems.
