Use of sound in videogames and movies is an underrated but essential part of the experience. Skilful use of audio in virtual reality (VR) can make all the difference in terms of atmosphere and immersion. To make the process of creating 3D soundscapes for VR easier, Dear Reality have released a new workflow called Spacial Connect.
Spacial Connect works with almost any Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) connected to a HTC Vive or Oculus Rift to allow any sound designer, audio engineer or musician to create 3D audio content for VR. The workflow in Spacial Connect has been designed to allow for intuitive positioning and mixing of sounds effects and music using just VR controllers such as the Oculus Touch or HTC Vive wand controllers.
Dear Reality Co-founder Achim Fell said: “If you want to mix for VR, you have to be in VR! dearVR Spatial Connect combines an enhanced workflow in VR with your common DAW and audio plugins.”
The Spacial Connect workflow allows users to export data as object-based audio directly to the Unity engine for both Vr or 360-degree video production. Dear Reality are accepting applications for users to join the Beta testing. Further information can be found on the Dear Reality website.

Because content creation should take place in the medium itself.”
