Less Is More With Micro Cosmic Worlds

The possibilities of virtual reality (VR) open up many avenues and allow VR users to explore many new places and perspectives. Micro Cosmic Worlds uses VR to let players explore the world from the perspective of being very, very small to see the world in a new way.

Developers Codon Inc. created Micro Cosmic Worlds not just as a videogame but as an attempt at education, trying to show young people that science and mathematics can be used in new an interesting ways to discover and explore. Micro Cosmic Worlds was created using science and mathematical models to create a world that is as accurate as possible in design and scale. Users can shrink down to the size of an insect, or even to the size of a microbe.

Launched on Steam this week for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, Micro Cosmic Worlds uses room-scale VR and 360-degree tracking to produce the experience, which can be played with motion controllers, Xbox gamepad or keyboard and mouse. The title costs £6.99 (GBP), the launch trailer is available to view below.

The design ethos at developers Cordon Inc. is that current education has not modernised in tune to current technology. Cordon believes that students learn better when they are more involved with the experience, and that learning by doing is better. The company is aiming to help students understand abstract concepts by making them simple, visual and fun and they see VR as a key tool in accomplishing their goal.

VRFocus will bring you further news on Micro Cosmic Worlds and other educational VR experiences as it becomes available.
