Microsoft Discuss Their Mixed Reality Future

Earlier this week we brought you news from Taipei where Microsoft were taking part in a ‘WinHEC’ – a Windows Hardware Development Conference, where a number of representatives went through the current crop of mixed reality (MR) related Microsoft products, demonstrated problems and solutions that the technology can solve and explained what the way the technology works. All with an overview of Microsoft’s current plans with regard to MR.

Microsoft have been pushing forward steadily with a two pronged attack on MR and augmented reality (AR) with not only their work on the Microsoft Hololens head-mounted display (HMD) but also their line of Windows 10 Mixed Reality HMDs, made with a number of partners such as Hewlett-Packard, DELL and Lenovo whose headset was recently confirmed for release this coming Christmas. This is not including other projects and outreach activities such as MR’s inclusion as part of the resurrected Dream Build Play development challenge.

The thirty minute session which covers elements such as boundary detection and floor detection, hardware setup and information relating to the forthcoming motion controller was recorded and today you can see that below in full. As always VRFocus will be bringing you further details about everything within the video over the weeks and months ahead. Be sure to check bakc regularly for the latest updates on VR, AR and MR.
