Croteam’s popular adventure-puzzle title The Talos Principle has been in development for its move to virtual reality for some time. Fans will be happy to note that the wait is almost over, as the title will be heading to Steam for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift in early October.
The Talos Principle gained much praise and a significant fan fallowing when it was released in 2014, with many critics impressed by its philosophical bent and deep story. The title puts the player in the shoes of a person who has just awoken from a deep sleep, who finds themselves in a world comprised of a strange mix of ancient ruins and incredible advanced technology. As the player progresses through the increasingly complex puzzles, they find themselves confronted by deep psychological and philosophical questions on the nature of identity and the meaning of life.
The VR version will include various types of locomotion support, instant teleport, blink teleport or full locomotion, which itself comes with a range of options that can be adjusted for player comfort. Roomscale VR is also supported, so for user’s will a suitable set-up with be able to explore more freely.
The puzzles are back, though this time users can use their hands via the tracked motion controllers to manipulate lasers, move drones and solve the various puzzles and explore the story. The Road to Gehenna expansion is also included, which features four episodes of a new narrative featuring some of the most challenging puzzles in The Talos Principle.
The Talos Principle VR will be released on to Steam on 17th October, 2017. A price point is yet to be confirmed. Further information can be found on the Steam Store page.
