October saw virtual reality (VR) studio Survios officially launch its first-person shooter (FPS) Raw Data after the videogame had been in Early Access for just over a year. Now the developer has released the first update 1.1.0 called Intercept, bringing with it a new Hostile Takeover player vs player PvP map as well as some smaller fixes.
The update adds King-of-the-Hill Map: INTERCEPT to the PVP Hostile Takeover which was first introduced as a beta in July, allowing players to utilise their skills from the campaign to take on one another. There are four hero classes to choose from, each with optimised abilities, intuitive “joystick” locomotion, as well as stealth and armor powerups. The mode lets you battle it out in up to 5v5 matches across multiple king-of-the-hill maps. Additionally, Hostile Takeover includes a Duel Mode to provide a 1v1 showdown experience where the best 3 out of 5 wins.
Survios has also included a new environment, Data Chamber, to play through. Describing the new area on a Steam posting, the studio states: “At the center of Eden Tower are the Quantum OS Data Chambers. Each Chamber stores and collates all of Eden’s vital data to ensure a better and safer future for humanity–unless, of course, SyndiK8 has its way! Right now, terrorists are attempting to break into Reactor 4 of the Sector F Data Chambers and corrupt Eden’s mission! Eliminate threats in this open map of interweaving walkways: find safety higher above, or rush the Data Core from below. Either way, get fired up–or get fired!”
If you’ve not played Raw Data yet it can be purchased through Steam for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive for £23.99 GBP instead of £29.99 until Thursday. Oculus Rift owners can also buy the title through Oculus Store for £23.99 as part of the winter sale. Raw Data’s also available for PlayStation VR, but there’s no discount on offer, so it’ll cost you £30.99. For the latest updates from Survios, keep reading VRFocus.
