Comedy Survival Experience Island Time VR Scheduled for April Launch

Having announced Island Time VR last month, Flight School Studio – the team behind Manifest 99 – has now revealed that the survival experience will be available next week for PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

The comedic experience puts players on a very small desert island, challenged to survive as long as possible whilst their only company is a talking crab named Carl. Island Time VR is comprised of an event system that determines when and what amounts of resources are made available to players. Survivors then use their expertise to perform tasks to stay alive until resources are restocked. If time allows, survivors might be able to enjoy a beautiful tropical sunset and forget that they’re in a desperate struggle for existence.

“I have no business being a voice actor, so I was blown away when Flight School reached out to have me voice Carl,” said Greg Miller, Co-Founder of Kinda Funny Games in a statement. “Then, imagine my surprise when the game turned out to actually be great! It’s been an honor to be part of a game that’s engaging, funny, and a great example of what VR can be.”

Players will have to find or craft tools to help them along the way, whether that’s for protection or to help them eat. As this idyllic location is packed full of danger, with death around every corner. Think that fish looks good to eat, be wary it might be poisoned. Or how about making a simple fire to cook and keep yourself warm, well you can set yourself on fire if you’re not careful.

We’re excited to see what solutions people come up with to survive in the game, and we’ll fold all the things we learn into our next VR experience.

Island Time VR from Flight School Studio is launching 3rd April for PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Steam VR for $14.99 USD. For any further updates, keep reading VRFocus.
