It’s the second anniversary of Oculus Rift’s arrival and to celebrate the event Oculus has unveiled a bunch of deals, new content and plenty more to celebrate the special day.
First up new content. Virtual reality (VR) MMORPG OrbusVR which launched for the headset in January will be rolling out a new update Shard Dungeons on 30th March 2018. The update will feature new levels, new gear, and new enemies to fight, and its completely free. The second videogame to get an anniversary update is Ultrawings. The arcade flying simulator will get a new agricultural-themed island, the speedy Gee Racer aircraft, and over a dozen air races scattered across the world. And for those flying experts with the right kit, the Ultrawings update will include HOTAS support.
Now it’s time for the deals. No anniversary would be complete without some offers for loyal customers, so Oculus will be providing up to 75% in savings on titles including Lone Echo, The Mage’s Tale, and Star Trek: Bridge Crew, a selection of four curated bundles.
For those that don’t yet own an Oculus Rift, from now until 3rd April every purchase of the headset via Oculus.com will receive a $50 USD Oculus Store credit. Select retailers in the US, Canada, and Europe are offering similar promotions, though details may vary, so be sure to check with your local store for more information.
And finally there’s the Rift Gold Rush. Oculus is holding a competition where players have the chance to win a part of a $28K prize pool including Oculus Store credits, a brand-new PC, and the exclusive “Golden Account” that unlocks 100 videogames for free. There will be several ways to participate in the competition, the first being a Brass Tactics free weekend that begins this Thursday. All you need to do is play a multiplayer match anytime from 1:00 – 2:00 pm PT on 31st March for a chance to win. Further Rift Gold Rush events will be happening each week, so keep checking back with VRFocus for the latest updates.
