London, UK-based The Realities Centre has hosted plenty of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) focused events since its inception. The latest is set to be one of its biggest. In partnership with Academy Class, The Realities Centre will be running a VR Development Bootcamp to equip participants with the tools and knowledge to start a career in VR videogame development.
Taking place over four weeks, the course will teach practical skills for creating VR content using popular game engine Unity, with the aim to take absolute beginners and turn them into competent VR developers.
So the first week of the course gets participants up to scratch with using Unity and understanding the most important features it displays and workflow, before going into creating a structured project plan and learning about the various AR and VR features in Unity for the second week. Week three is where attendees get to develop their own individual project, while week four teaches them how to use analytics, player feedback and more market research to enhance concerning the final product.
“After 20 events and 8 hackathons, as well as dealing with the developers community and corporates, we have been clearly seeing that VR as a career is a job with a long term future prospect and in high demand. We are very excited by this programme and cant wait to help the graduates progress in their career,” says Thomas Gere, CEO and founder of the Realities Centre.
“We have been designing this bootcamp for many months after talking to the Realities Centre and observing the AR/VR industry, noticing an obvious need and demand for such a career path, hence the bootcamp!” adds Mark Young, founder and Chairman of Academy Class.
