Yumerium is the creation of California-based Subdream Studios, who are aiming to create a social experience that can bridge the gap between home-based virtual reality (VR) and location-based VR arcades. The platform has paired with Virtual World Arcade as part of its plan to realise this.
Yumerium uses an ‘play-to-earn’ business model that uses Blockchain to create a decentralised economy by using a cryptocurrency called YUM Tokens. Players can earn tokens by playing, sharing or reviewing videogames on the Yumerium platform.
The partnership with Virtual World Arcade will allow two more VR videogames to be added to the Yumerium platform. There are five titles in development which will soon be available for all users. CryptoMine, which will be the first native and fully-integrated videogame on the Yumerium platform, planned for release in Q4 of 2018. Hell Dimension, Kingdom Watcher, Mega Overload, and Dream Pets VR are planned for launch in Q3 of 2018.
The partnership with Virtual World Arcade will allow two other titles to head onto the platform. The first is Crystal Reign, a VR tower-defence title where players need to battle woodland creatures to prevent them destroying your base. The second is CYCOM Cybernet Combat, a VR multiplayer shooter where players can use a deck of special cards to power up weaponry and defences to aid in fighting other players or AI bots.
The Public token sale for the Yumerium YUM tokens began in May 2018, after a successful Private Token sale. The studio plans to launch all Subdream Studios titles on the platform alongside the Native Token launch in August 2018.
Yumerium has already received investment from several companies, including HTC, Macro, DeNA, Genesia Ventures, Cognitive Investment and Bridge Link Capital. Further information on Yumerium is available on the official website.
