As the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2018 keeps ramping up with the announcements, developer I-Illusions have revealed on social media that their virtual reality (VR) title Space Pirate Trainer is making it’s way to PlayStation VR later this year.
For those who don’t know what Space Pirate Trainer is, the title is a VR shooting experience that puts players into an endless fight against waves of robots that are keen on taking you down. Armed with two pistols to duel wield or a shield and pistol combo, players must defend themselves for as long as possible. Players will need to dodge incoming lasers, take shots at the attacking robots and work towards the highest score possible. To top of the immersive and enjoyable gameplay, Space Pirate Trainer is also a neon filled title which offers plenty of visual flare for players to enjoy.
VRFocus’ Senior Staff Writer Peter Graham reviewed Space Pirate Trainer on PC saying: “Several gameplay modes have been employed to try and mix up the action, such as Old School, harking back to the original release or Hardcore mode where the time slowdown no longer activates due to incoming fire getting too close or hitting you. They do to a degree but the differences are minimal.”
“Is this enough to recommend Space Pirate Trainer over some of the other excellent options available? Quite frankly yes. Whatever I-Illusions has done certainly works to create an addictively fun experience as much today as when it was released just over a year ago. The 1.0 release doesn’t push the genre forward it just reminds everyone why they like it in the first place.”
A number of titles have been announced for PlayStation VR already during E3 2018 including a new title from developer From Software titled Déraciné, a new incarnation of Tetris from the developers behind Rez Infinite dubbed Tertis Effect, and even the popular Beat Saber is joining the PlayStation VR family.
