It was announced at the start of this year that Visbit were releasing a new 8K, 360-degree video player which would be compatible with the HTC Vive Focus. The company is now expanding on its 8K virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) services with the launch of its 8K Premium Playback Service with Synchronised playback control.
The new Visbit Premium Playback Service is designed to make the delivery of private VR content simpler and easier, including features such as access control.
If a user has a VR files that they wish to share with another users – perhaps a friend or work colleague, and this information need to be kept confidential forwhatever reason, it would usually be necessary to send a Google Doc link, and then the receiving user would need to side-load the content into a suitable player.
By using the new Visbit system users can upload the VR content to the Visbit Portal in private made and send the other user a 6-letter access code. This service also means that access to the content can be controlled, and content can be ‘unpublished’ if problems with IP are found, or a correction is needed.
Another function of the Visbit system is synchronised playback control. By using a mobile app, one user can manage many headsets at once and set them all playing the same content at the same time, which could be a valuable tool in educational or training contexts.
Visbit also say they have upgraded their video rendering pipeline, and as a result the final rendered video sharpness has increased by 10%. Support for other new headsets has been added, including devices such as the ODG R-9 smartglasses, and standalone VR headsets like the HTC Vive Focus, Oculus Go, MiVR and Lenovo Mirage Solo.
