Snapchat Influencer Network Fanbytes Launches AR Lenses Platform

Following the release of their augmented reality (AR) feature Lenses, Snapchat has continued to expand them to allow for new ways for users to engage with content in fun and exciting ways. Now, UK-based Fanbytes, a music-focused Snapchat Influencer network has launched their new Fanbytes AR platform which is designed to help brands create and distribute Snapchat Lenses at scale.

As reported by Music Business Worldwide, Snapchat’s ever growing active user base is standing at 188 million and so it is no surprise that brands are looking to leverage the new AR Lenses technology to engage with potential customers. The release of this platform comes following Snapchat introducing their own Lens Studios earlier this year which was designed to make it easier for brands to build their own custom Lenses. Fanbytes felt that this was still not an easy means to build Lenses noting that many brands lack the creative expertise required. It is with this in mind that the company has now released their own platform to help brands overcome this challenge.

Having worked previously with the likes of Warner Music, Deezer and Universal to deliver impressive content on Snapchat, Fanbytes has the experience and knowledge to leverage their clients and maximize their presence on Snapchat. By offering a network of vetted designers who can create AR Lenses for a fraction of the cost of a conventional agency, the company having put themselves in a unique position. The Lenses which are created will then be distributed through Fanbyte’s network of influences and communities which enables organic and viral engagement.

It’s no secret that Snapchat is a very young platform. If you want to create something which could be engaged with then it’s got to come from a younger audience,” explains Timothy Armoo, CEO of Fanbytes: “It seems counter-intuitive to get someone who is not part of the audience you’re trying to target to create content. It can result in companies creating tone-deaf content which actually does more harm than good.”

Fanbytes is hoping that their new platform will enable more brands to take advantage of the AR technology to build more engagement on Snapchat. More information about the service can be found on the Fanbytes’ website and for all the latest on all things AR, keep reading VRFocus.
