When Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality by Owlchemy Labs launched last summer for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive it received positive feedback from critics and players alike, finely mixing the comedy the cartoon series was known for with interesting and humerous gameplay. Last month it was the turn of PlayStation VR owners to enjoy some Rick and Morty virtual reality (VR) action, and they’ve certainly given it a thumbs up with the title reaching number one in Sony Interactive Entertainment America’s (SIEA) download charts.
Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality arrived for PlayStation VR on 10th April, in both digital and physical copy forms for $29.99 USD (£24.99 GBP). Built in collaboration between Adult Swim Games, and developers Owlchemy Labs and Other Ocean Group, Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality is a VR adventure like no other.
Taking the best bits from Job Simulator, players find themselves in the role of a Morty clone, there to do the duo’s bidding whilst they head off on another adventure. Set predominantly in Ricks garage/lab, players will need to solve puzzles, step through portals into strange dimensions, get yelled at by Rick, fight aliens, drink detergent, press buttons, and much more.
VRFocus gave the PC-version a thumbs up, awarding it a five-star review, saying: “Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality is a madcap, fun filled adventure from start to finish, perfectly suiting VR’s qualities, it should not be missed.”
The chart also reveals some interesting trends and possible future number ones. Polyarc’s Moss was number one in March but has already dropped to seventh position. While Owlchemy Lab’s PlayStation VR launch title Job Simulator continues to stay in the top 5, only dropping one place to third. SUPERHOT VR and Drunkn Bar Fight have both stayed and moved up, whilst everything else is new.
What’s interesting is the emergence of Killing Floor: Incursion. Having only launched on 1st May it has already achieved the top ten and likely to rise higher as the month goes on. As SIEA continue to release these monthly charts VRFocus will let you know how the best videogames are fairing.
