A project to create a first-person horror adventure videogame titled Scorn first began two years ago. The developers are now seeking funding to complete the project through Kickstarter. If funding meets its first stretch goal, the team plan to create a virtual reality (VR) level for the title.
Using as aesthetic style strongly reminiscent of the art of H R Geiger, whom most people will recognise as influencing the style of the Aliens franchise, Scorn throws the player in to an otherwordly nightmare where they will need to solve puzzles, acquire new skills and get to grips with new weapons to understand what is going on around you.
The development team at Ebb Software are seeking to reach €150,000 (EUR) in funding. The first stretch goal of €175,000 will allow for the creation of the VR level. Higher stretch goals include adding new enemy types, locations and content.
Funding tiers range from €17 to get a digital copy of Scorn, along with a digital wallpaper pack, the backers name in the credits and a demo, to the Early bird €20 tier which gives access to a digital world map and prologue early access in addition to the lower tier rewards. The highest tier is €250, which gets the backer a figurine, branded USB flash drive, vinyl soundtrack, printed art book, canvas print and t-shirt as well as everything in the lower tiers.
The Kickstarter campaign will end on 10th October, 2017. If funding is successful, the team hope to begin shipping the title some time in 2018.
