Several months ago Spanish developer Bloompix Studios released its first virtual reality (VR) title The Devil Awaits VR for Samsung Gear VR. Today it has revealed expanded support for the title, bringing the horror puzzle experience to Android and Pico Goblin.
The Devil Awaits VR is available for both headsets now, with the Android version getting a free level to introduce players to the experience. Featuring the forest, the lost hut and half of the dungeon area, once the level has been completed players can then choose to continue on by purchasing the videogame for $4 USD.
With the platform update Bloompix Studios has now added full localisation support for English and Spanish, including voiceovers and text.
Gameplay revolves around you playing the role of Rick H. Johanson, a thief who tries to escape from the police after committing a robbery in a bank. The majority of the experience takes place in an abandoned cabin where you soon find yourself fighting against the devil who had been capturing the souls of innocent people in the region. To survive you need to investigate cases, solving the puzzles to expel the demon in an attempt to get back home.
Bloompix Studios has also informed VRFocus that its working on a Vive Focus edition of the title. Having already launched in China back in January, HTC confirmed during the Game Developers Conference (GDC) last week that the standalone head-mounted display (HMD) would be coming to western shores, refraining from confirming a price or a possible 2018 release date.
The Android version will of course support headsets like Google Cardboard or Merge VR, with players requiring a Bluetooth gamepad to play. The Pico Goblin went on sale towards the end of 2017. Another standalone headset, the Pico Goblin doesn’t include features like inside-out tracking as found on Vive Focus. Features include 2560×1440 resolution, a 3DoF tracking controller and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 CPU, all for £269 GBP/€269 EUR/$269.
VRFocus will continue its coverage of The Devil Awaits VR and Bloompix Studios, reporting back with any further updates.
