PlayStation VR’s Gran Turismo Sport Gets VR Time Trials

PlayStation 4 racing fans got their fix in October 2017 when Gran Turismo Sport launched. Those looking forward to playing the title in virtual reality (VR) were disappointed to find that PlayStation VR support only featured in one mode, pitting them against one other driver. Today, Polyphony Digital has announced the latest Gran Turismo Sport update, expanding VR gameplay by adding a time trial mode.

As it turns out players have been keenly requesting more VR content in the title, with Kazunori Yamauchi President, Polyphony Digital, mentioning in a statement: “One of our most often received requests to date has been the expansion of GT Sport’s thrilling VR mode. So, with the latest patch, PlayStation VR owners will have the chance to hit the track in a series of challenging time trials. Players will also now earn rewards in both Time Trial and VR Tour modes!”

So while its not quite the full game with lots of other racers to compete against in VR, at least its another step towards more VR integration, with Polyphony Digital still looking at ways of adding immersive content.

Alongside the VR Time Trials the studio has added into the main game 13 new vehicles:

  • Honda Raybrig Concept-GT
