Feeling The Rhythm with Beat Saber

Many people have been eagerly anticipating the release of Beat Saber, the neon-lit action-rhythm title that combines the satisfaction of swinging around a sword with the pumping page of a rhythm game. Those who have been waiting can now celebrate as Beat Saber has finally hit Steam.

Developers Hyperbolic Magnetism have been hard at work on perfecting the title since 2016. The development team were initially planning on holding back the release until everything was at 100% completion, but the early builds got so much positive feedback that they decided to give customers a chance to try the title a little earlier.

Beat Saber has been described as a cross between Fruit Ninja and Guitar Hero. Players wield a pair of lightsaber-like swords, and the aim to to slash as the cubes that come towards you. The cubes represent the beat of the music, and there is a specific pattern to what saber to use, and the direction to cut. To get top points, this pattern need to be matched.

All the levels and music in the title have been created to complement each other. Each cut creates its own sound and visual effect to support the feel of the action, to ensure that the gameplay feels satisfying.

Upon its Early Access launch, players will have access to the Arcade Mode, which should provide enough levels and songs to get players started and give the more competitively-minded a basis for to begin to compete for a spot on the high score table.

The development team are hoping to have a full version of the title out before the end of 2018. The 1.0 version is planned to have more songs and levels added as well as a level editor function that would allow users to add in their own custom levels and songs.
