VR MOBA Conjure Strike Heads To Early Access

Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas, also known as MOBAs, have become incredibly popular, with titles such as League of Legends and Overwatch leading the pack. An ambitious developer called Tribe VR is aiming to bring this concept in to virtual reality (VR) with Conjure Strike.

Conjure Strike takes place on the mysterious Floating Islands, where a powerful crytal energy infuses competitors with incredible powers as the battle with one another.

Conjure Strike

The title is a team-based battle arena where players pick a class, learn how to use its unique skills and then battle it out in 2v2 King of the Hill or Capture the Flag matches.

On its launch into Early Access, three classes will be available to choose from, The Elementalist, Mage Hunter and Earth Warden. Each of these has a different role and play style. The Elementalist can burn foes to a crisp with a flamethrower, while the Mage Hunter comes equipped with a quick and deadly vorpal blade and the Earth Warden is as tough and immovable as stone.

Each class comes with its own special abilities, weapons and Ultimate skill, so teams will need to learn how to work together to best deploy their abilities in order to win the day. The developers say that more classes will be added

The developers have been keen to avoid the normal movement available in many VR titles, and have chosen not to use teleportation or dashing styles of locomotion and have instead adopted its own custom movement system that they say provides an adrenaline rush whilst still being comfortable to play.

The movement system is described as ‘Full flying locomotion’. The player will move in the direction they are looking, press forward to move in that direction, backwards to move back and left or right to strafe.

Conjure Strike will be coming to Oculus Rift Early Access on 7th May, 2018. More information can be found on the official Conjure Strike website. Further news on updates on Conjure Strike and other upcoming VR titles will be covered here on VRFocus.
