Virtual reality (VR) has been referred to as the ‘empathy machine; for its extraordinary ability to let users step into the shoes of people from different cultures and backgrounds. VR content company TARGO is seeking to offer such immersive documentary experiences on a regular basis with its partnership with Inception.
Inception is available across all main VR platforms, including HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Oculus Go, PlayStation VR Google Daydream, Samsung Gear VR and Windows Mixed Reality, and the partnership will mean that Inception users will get access to regular new documentary content from TARGO.
Every two weeks, a new TARGO documentary will become available, offering a glimpse into areas such as a day in the life of pigeon racers, a stroll through the deep forest with a shaman, or a dive with a champion freefaller.
Inception is an immersive content network which was launched in October 2016 in order to offer a diverse range of high-quality content to VR users. Since launch, Inception has racked up over 1 million downloads with an active community of users.
TARGO aims to offer a wide range of stories which explores unusual hobbies and distant locations, with the ambition of helping the audience discover new and different things about the world we all live in with its short-form 4-6 minute VR experiences.
The TARGO studio was launched over a year ago with a focus on telling real-world stories through immersive technologies, and has collaborated with well-known news agencies to produce its documentaries.
TARGO says that the aim of this partnership was to offer regular access to high-quality VR documentaries, at a time when VR is becoming more popular and mainstream, giving VR users something new to watch each time they don the headset.
