Gravity Sketch Announces Latest Update

Gravity Sketch has become an important tool for a number of designers and artists, who are able to use the immersive 3D space of a virtual reality (VR) environment along with tracked motion controllers to create detailed 3D models and artwork. Now a new version of Gravity Sketch is about to be launched to bring a fresh set of new tools and features to users.

Gravity Sketch version 1.5 is bringing a number of upgrades and developments that have been designed to allow for more engaging design and visualisation, including new drawing tools, geometry types and better export options.

Gravity Sketch

Gravity Sketch is committed to disrupting and reimagining current design workflows to enable creatives to fully express their ideas in real-time”, said Gravity Sketch CEO, Seyi Sosanya. “Putting the users at the centre of our development has allowed us to continue creating a software that is not only applicable to those from technical and digital backgrounds, but is also created in a way that it can touch creatives in all walks of life regardless of their creative prowess, and also bringing back an element of fun into the creative process. Our latest developments really encapsulate our communities’ feedback and we can’t wait to see what they can create with it.”

New features in Version 1.5 include:

Taper mode – Users will be able to draw any length of stroke and always have tapered ends

Draw with Normals – When drawing with a non-rounded brush, the stroke will better match the rotation of the controller.

Edit Normals – Artists can edit the twist of strokes along the path – such as with a square brush.

Depth of Field + Square Snapshot – Users can now add a depth-of-field effect to snapsnots, and take square-shaped pictures.

Export Options – Gravity Sketch now has an improved export layout and setting which supports .obj, .fbx, and .iges which improves compatibility with other design tools.

Gravity Sketch is available on Steam for HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Windows Mixed Reality. Further information on the new update can be found on the Steam Store page. For future coverage on Gravity Sketch and other VR apps, keep checking back with VRFocus.
