Offworld Industries and Animatrik Holding Interactive Exhibition Based on Tactical Shooters

Motion capture studio Animatrik has worked on numerous virtual reality (VR) and non-VR projects including Carne y Arena, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Gears of War, and Justice League. Today, in conjunction with indie studio Offworld Industries, the pair have announced a large-scale, interactive exhibition based on tactical shooter games which will be taking place this month in Vancouver, Canada.

Invited to attend are professionals involved in all facets of video game production – such as animators, tech developers, and cinematic directors. The evening event will feature the team behind popular multiplayer, military shooter Squad, presenting a range of technology demos and interactive exhibits, hosted at Animatrik’s studio.

Attendees will be able to see the largest independent motion capture stage in North America; a VR station featuring some Squad-based action; watch game avatars come to life on the big screen, side-by-side a live action performer in real-time; and join Offworld Industries co-founder and CEO, Will Stahl, as he makes a series of announcements.

Learning about motion capture has continued to become an important resource when it comes to videogame and film development. With the rise of VR, and the need to make avatars as natural as possible for the sake of immersion, more and more indie developers are looking towards the technology and easy ways to implement it.

If you’re interested in attending the event then you’ll need to be quick. Because it’s free to attend the 150 spaces available will likely be allotted fairly quickly. It will take place on Thursday 20th September, running from 6pm through 10pm. For further details and to signup head to the Eventbrite page.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of Animatrik and motion capture, reporting back with the latest updates.
