Squanch Games Release New Trover Saves the Universe Gameplay Trailer

Virtual reality (VR) headsets are home to some bizarre videogames as developers immerse players in ever more surreal and outlandish environments. One studio well versed in the extraordinary is Squanch Games, part of the team behind  Accounting and Accounting+, who have just released a new gameplay trailer for upcoming PlayStation VR exclusive Trover Saves the Universe.

Trover Saves the Universe

Taking that same comedy charm which founder Justin Roiland is known for from Rick and Morty, Trover Saves the Universe is an equally outrageous VR adventure.

To understand what the hell is going on Squanch Games explians: “Your dogs have been dognapped by a beaked lunatic who stuffed them into his eye holes and is using their life essence to destroy the universe. You’ve partnered with Trover, a purple eye hole monster to save them. Find cute little monsters called power babies, and plug them into his eye holes so that he can absorb their power, track down Glorkon, and save your dogs (and the Universe). It’s an action platformer buddy comedy where you get to control Trover AND yourself in a strange mix of first and third person action. Explore bizarre alien worlds and characters along your journey.”

Sounds fairly straight forward doesn’t it? In the new gameplay trailer the studio showcases much more of the title for the first time, with a little light swearing (so slightly NSFW), plenty of colourful visuals and frankly too many creatures that don’t have eyes.

Trover Saves the Universe

Squanch Games originally announced Trover Saves the Universe during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2018 in June, managing to get a preview of the title and finding that: “From this early look at Trover Saves the Universe it seems as though Squanch Games are sticking with what they know. It’s gross, over the top, funny, bizarre and just the right sort of adventure for a more mature VR audience. So long as there’s enough gameplay variety to compliment the comedy then there’s no reason this can’t be a worthy successor to Accounting.”

There’s no specific release date for Trover Saves the Universe at the moment, when there is VRFocus will let you know.
