Vertigo Games’ Skyworld was already a successful strategy title hybrid, mixing both real-time strategy (RTS) and turn-based strategy (TBS) elements together. Then earlier this month the studio revealed a series spin-off called Skyworld: Kingdom Brawl, a cross-platform multiplayer card-battler due for release next week. The first trailer was merely a teaser and didn’t show any gameplay footage, however, the trailer that’s dropped today is just the opposite.
The gameplay video shows two players going head to head in a best-out-of-three brawl, showcasing the battles taking place in real-time, as they select some of the 50+ available units, from Siege Tanks, Flying Fortresses and Knights to Dragons and Hellbeasts.
In addition to this first gameplay trailer, Vertigo Games has announced that an arcade tournament will take place in late April. Having joined forces with the Virtual Athletic League, Vertigo Games will be starting things off on launch day by allowing arcades to participate in a free week until 8th April. Launch details for the tournament are still to be confirmed, but because Vertigo Games and Vive Studios have been working together on Skyworld: Kingdom Brawl one of the tournament prizes will be an HTC Vive Pro.
Like all good card battlers, Skyworld: Kingdom Brawl will allow players to unlock, collect and upgrade dozens of cards to build powerful decks, watching them come alive in the process. As a multiplayer focused title, players can go it alone or join a clan, taking on opponents from around the globe across 20 different arenas in regular online tournaments to rank on the global leaderboards.
Skyworld: Kingdom Brawl is scheduled to launch next Tuesday, 2nd April 2019, supporting HTC Vive, HTC Vive Pro, HTC Vive Focus, Oculus Rift and Windows Mixed Reality headsets. The title will retail for $9.99 USD/ €9.99 EUR with a 15% discount available for launch week. An HTC Vive Focus Plus version is also in the works for later this year.
