First Pre-Alpha Gameplay of Vail VR Released

Vail VR

Indie studio AEXLAB has been running a closed alpha for its upcoming multiplayer first-person shooter (FPS) Vail VR for the past few months. If you’ve not checked the title out yet now is a great time as the team has just released the first gameplay footage.

Vail VR

Vail VR will be an entirely online tactical shooter for PC VR headsets, pitting two teams of five against one another. With a very industrial design architecture, the video showcases maps with plenty of tight areas for intense firefights, with no worry as to who’s on which team thanks to the striking black and white character designs.

While there’s a standard Team Deathmatch mode Vail VR’s core gameplay experience is Artifact. This is a classic defend or attack scenario where one team has to protect the Artifact at all costs.

The team is aiming to build “the ultimate VR shooter experience” with Vail VR focused on high-calibre combat and tactical gunplay. So all the weaponry will have realistic mechanics such as recoil and manual reloading. But AEXLAB also wants Vail VR to be a virtual environment that has all the interactive features virtual reality (VR) players would expect. You can throw a teammate a full clip for instance or grab a refreshing drink between matches.

Vail VR

Vail VR isn’t just going to be competitive, it’ll be social as well. So you can go for a more casual experience and build up that squad discipline, utilising the in-game voice chat system before going into a ranked match.

AEXLAB is building Vail VR for Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Valve Index and Windows Mixed Reality headsets, with no current timeline for an official release. Now that the new footage is out, those that are interested in trying Vail VR can head to Steam to request access should the studio require any more testers. As further details on Vail VR are released, VRFocus will let you know.
