Back in March Warner Bros. announced plans for a virtual reality (VR) experience based on the upcoming superhero movie Justice League. Now the company has revealed the Justice League VR experience will be rolled out in four stages, with content to be released prior to, during, and after the theatrical opening, culminating with Justice League VR: The Complete Experience.
To begin with there’s a promotional demo in partnership with Gillette: Justice League VR: Join the League – Gillette Edition. Available now for Android and iOS devices, the demo is an interactive, gaze-based experience and will have up to 90 seconds of gameplay for each of the five characters, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg. As a VR experience user will need a Google Cardboard or an equivalent VR viewer to play.
In October, the Justice League booth at New York Comic Con will offer visitors a sneak peek of the HTC Vive version, using the headset’s motion controllers for a more enhanced version. Then when the film opens on 17th November, the IMAX VR: Justice League Experience will be unveiled at IMAX VR Centres, an IMAX exclusive for its first two weeks.
Naturally the best is saved for last. When December rolls around, Justice League Virtual Reality: The Complete Experience will be available to home users. Set to feature on HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear VR, Google Daydream and PlayStation VR (although these are subject to change), the VR experience will feature additional modes and expanded missions, as well as full roomscale tracking for those headsets that support the feature.
Currently missions in Justice League Virtual Reality: The Complete Experience include:
- Outrace your enemies as BATMAN
- Fight Parademons as WONDER WOMAN
- Face a creature from the deep as AQUAMAN
- Stop a ticking bomb as THE FLASH
- Take out enemy drones as CYBORG
