It is no surprise that more theme parks are adopting virtual reality (VR) as a means to further the experiences that attendees can witness during their visits. In China however, a new VR theme park has opened that allows attendees a chance to try out a number of unique rides and attractions that all leverage VR technology.
In a recent video report posted on the China Global Television Network (CGTN) YouTube channel, the Oriental Science Fiction Valley was explored and shown off since it’s opening on April 29th, 2018 in the southwestern province of Guizhou. The theme park make use of the latest in VR technology to transports visitors to a sci-fi location full of exciting rides and virtual attractions that most will have never seen before.
The Oriental Science Fiction Valley comes packed with over thirty different VR attractions and is complete with a Transformer looking robot statue at the front that is 53 meters tall. This landmark statue is only the start of the experience though as visitors will continue to find sci-fi themed locations and landmarks throughout the whole park.
In the video, Chen Jianli VR Theme Park CEO talks about how competition within the theme park industry is very high and how VR theme park is aiming to offer a completely different experience. With VR rides, a sci-fi theme throughout the whole park and traditional attractions available as well. One of the aims of the park, as Jianli notes, is that hope that it will help the general public have a better understanding of the applications of the immersive industry and what the technology being used can do for them.
China already holds the annual Asia Amusement & Attraction Expo which is focused on theme park attractions with a strong focus on new technologies and methods to drive costumer engaging. With such a strong drive to raise about the competition in the sector and create memorable experiences for costumers, China is continuing to show that it is behind VR technology and its applications in theme parks more than once now.
